JEERAK ( Cumin seeds)

Jeerak is a very well known spice in Asian kitchen. We all enjoy a pinch of rosted jeera powder with buttermilk. Ayurvedic properties-it Balances vatta and kapha, and Increases pitta. HOME REMEDIES 1) Bleeding in piles- take one tablespoon each of cumin seeds,aniseed and coriander seeds, and boil them together in glass of water. When half the quantity left ,strain the liquid and add one tsp,ghee in it . Now drink this twice day . 2) For relief in diarrhea add jeera powder (roasted cumin) with half a tsp honey and take this mixture four times a day . 3)Urticaria- To get relief from itchy skin take bath with boiled cumin water( add jeera seeds in water and bring a boil) 4) In chronic and relapsing fever grind Cumin seeds and mix jaggery in equal quantity. Eat 5gm with water thrice a day. 5) Face wash - for clear face Boil cumin seeds in water and use this filter water as face wash. 6) Increasing of breast feed- Fry 125 gm cumin in ghee, mix mishri (crystal sugar )125 gm. Take 1 tsp twice

FFED A COLD AND STARVE A FEVER

This is an old saying and in Ayurveda the similar principle is been mentioned for fever. Ayurveda advises us to observe fast if someone is feverish. As Fever is considered as sign of Ama(toxin), fasting allows the body to burn the AMA and recover from it. Certain herbal teas,Herbal water,some kind of fruit juices  are allowed during the period but if someone can observer complete fast then it is recommended. Following herbal remedy will help to cool the body due to fever and help body to digest the Ama( toxin) easily. You will need CORIANDER LEAVES - Handful of those  WATER 1/3 cup Wash the coriander leaves thoroughly,and put handful of it in the blender . Add 1/3 cup of water and blend together. Strain out the pulp from blender. Take 2 teaspoon of this mixture three times a day during the fever. This is so effective anti pitta remedy. This will help to bring down the temperature. Think before you throw away the peel........yes that's right ,,, next time when you are about to throw banana skin or Papaya peel remember this post  AND I am  sure you will be amazed by it ..... 1. Papaya peel - this is very effective for dull skin to brighten it . You can use fresh peel or you can sun dry the peel and make a powder of it later. Apply the fresh peel directly on the face leave for,10 minutes and wash or make a face pack from dry powder mixed in water.  2. The peels of Dudhi (bottle gourd) is best detoxifying agent. As we age our vision and sensory functions decreases gradually. For eye related issues we always refer as Pitta disorder. This post is in response to the request sent by one of my friend.. At some point in our Life we all suffer from dry skin condition,then we try different chemical based products and still it seems to be recurring ...which is annoying at some point... ..but simple changes in every day routine And natural home remedies can make your skin well hydrated and glowing . But wait... Instead of jumping on to suggesting you some home remedies if I can describe how and why the dry skin condition cause,I personally think it will be a great help to take care of it.  So why do you think we develop dry skin ?? Now as we know what causes dry skin , we can look at the easy steps to help us avoid developing the condition. Here I am going to list few of the natural tips which we all probably know but don't follow and hence is the problem ... So if we can try to incorporate these important tips in our daily routine ,we all will have a very healthy ,glowing and young lookin g skin. 1) Resist yourself to have very hot shower, as it tend to take away the natural oil from our skin layer leaving it dry and sensitive. Turmeric is fast becoming a popular remedy for just about everything that ails you. ... Traditionally, turmeric milk has been used for colds, congestion, headache, and sore throats. Turmeric is a depression-fighter as well. Turmeric Milk Ingredients 2 cups of milk (or substitute coconut milk) 1 teaspoon dried turmeric (or one-half inch fresh turmeric thinly sliced or diced) 1 teaspoon dried ginger (or one-half inch fresh ginger thinly sliced or diced) A sprinkle of black pepper. Honey to taste... Turmeric Milk Steps Place milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add turmeric, ginger, and pepper. Stir well if you are using the dried spices. Let the milk begin to simmer. Allow to heat for another minute or two being careful not to let the milk overheat. Turn off heat, cover, and allow the mixture to sit for ten minutes or so to improve the infusion. # Help for Dry and Chapped Hands #  Low humidity in winter season ,dries out skin leaving it irritated. Secondly as you age,your body produces less of the oil that keeps skin smooth. This leaves the hands very dry and chapped.  So how to prevent getting your hands rough and driving you crazy... 1) Stay out of hot water  2) Avoid soaping 3) Put  moisturiser in air - use a home humidifier  4)Pamper your hands- apply quality moisturiser at least twice a day. In addition, do it after each washing. LEMON OIL This very easy home made moisturiser is very effective in preventing hands from getting dry and rough. Add Few drops of Lemon Oil with few drops of Glycerine . Massage this into your hands at least twice a day, especially at bedtime. It will make your chapped hands smooth and it will sooth the if rites hands as well
