Given the current Covid-19 situation, the world’s attention has been turned to the immune system, our body’s defence network against potentially harmful bacteria, viruses and other organisms. The immune system plays a critical role in our response against infectious disease.

Similar to time, hopes, love and happiness, immunity is not something that we can simply fake, manufacture or buy. As a result, we should be striving to keep our immunity the strongest it can possibly be at all times.

        1)     Metabolism:

Metabolism is a term that is used to describe all chemical reactions involved in maintainingthe living state of the cells and the organism. There are a few simple herbs and spices in Ayurveda which help in digesting metabolic toxins, removing them from the cells and kindling metabolic fire such as:

  1. Eat at the proper time - Eat only when you are hungry and not by looking at the clock ; Eat at regular times each day; Space your meals in such a way that the first one is completely digested by the time you have your second
  2. Eat the proper quantity - Eat ¾ of your capacity; Eat as per body requirements.
  3. Cook your food - but not too much! Food should be soft and easy to chew but not mushy.

 

        3)     Circulation

Strong blood circulation is crucial in allowing body function to be at its best. It supplies oxygen to the brain and other organs, making it important for all cell processes. To improve blood circulation, Ayurveda can give easy to adapt suggestions for your cooking. 

Tip 1: Incorporate cardiac stimulants within the dishes you make to keep your circulation flowing - ginger, black pepper and cinnamon.
